Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT was developed by Marsha Linehan PhD. DBT is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals who experience intensified emotions, difficulty with relationships, or struggles with impulsivity. DBT is a beneficial treatment for a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use.

We use DBT to support clients in building a life worth living — one grounded in emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and mindful awareness.

Core Components of DBT:

  • Mindfulness: Learning to be present in the moment without judgment

  • Distress Tolerance: Building skills to cope with crisis situations without making them worse

  • Emotion Regulation: Understanding and managing intense emotional experiences

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Navigating relationships with confidence, boundaries, and clarity

Is DBT Right for You?

DBT may be especially helpful if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed by your emotions or have difficulty managing your mood

  • Struggle with conflict in relationships

  • Engage in impulsive decisions

  • Want to better understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors

  • Often feel overwhelmed, stuck, or shut down

  • Want tools to help you pause before reacting

Our clinicians will integrate DBT into your treatment as appropriate, tailoring the skills to your unique needs. Whether you’re looking to gain more control over your emotions, improve communication, or find greater balance in your life, DBT can offer structured, practical tools for meaningful change.
